KATRINA BRUCE,
President
Katrina Bruce is the President of Alternative Management, an association management firm serving Nevada. Her involvement with association management began in 1985 with Management Development Associates in Reno, Nevada. At that time, she handled bookkeeping and computer operations for several associations, including the Reno Philharmonic, Young Audiences of Northern Nevada, Junior Achievement, and the Sierra Arts Foundation. After moving to Southern Nevada in 1990, Katrina began working with NAIOP Southern Nevada Chapter and established her business. Alternative Management provides full-service management services, special events planning, organizational review and goal setting to non-profit associations.Katrina was honored with NAIOP’s Chapter Merit Award for Outstanding Contribution by a Chapter Executive three times, in 1996, in 2008 and in 2012. She was also awarded by NAWBO Southern Nevada with the Diamond Award for Women of Distinction in 2008. As a firm believer in giving back to her community, Katrina volunteers for Junior Achievement of Southern Nevada and served as a founding board member for Dress for Success Southern Nevada. DFS is a national non-profit promoting economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support with other professional women and career development tools to help them thrive in work and in life. Katrina is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the Nevada Society of Association Executives, AMC Institute and BoardSource. She is a graduate of the University of Nevada-Reno with a degree in Business Administration and is married to Greg Bruce, a local Certified Public Accountant.

Nan Okuda,
Account Manager

 

Nan works closely with the Southern Nevada CCIM Chapter, SIOR and NAWBO, providing data management, event registration and support to the membership and sponsorship base. Nan’s previous life in the IT industry included software instruction at the university level and business training workshops and customer support for the federal government and casino gaming. 

Valerie Picos,
Account Coordinator

Valerie began with Alternative Management in 2010 and works with Nevada Professional Facility Managers Association. She attends Board meetings, prepares communications, identifies client needs and coordinates, organizes and promotes events and registration in addition to reconciliation, website maintenance and database management. Her diverse background includes fundraising, sales and event promotion.

Christine Wertley-Snyder,
Bookkeeper

Chris moved to Las Vegas in 2021 from Northern Colorado. She achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Alvernia University in Pennsylvania and previously handled bookkeeping duties for HOA Associations and Government Entities.  Chris manages bookkeeping responsibilities for all accounts at Alternative Management and enjoys reading and traveling during her leisure time.

Tara Harvey,
Account Manager

 

With Alternative Management since 2007, Tara works with BOMA Nevada, CREW, Henderson Historical Society, the Keystone Corporation, SNARSCA and Urban Land Institute of Nevada, Her responsibilities include board, committee and membership coordination and communications; promotional production; program and event organization and registration; website maintenance; and database management. She has traveled extensively overseas and previously managed a  hostel in New Zealand.

Johna Savage,
Account Manager

Johna is a Las Vegas native who joined Alternative Management in 2014 with HOA management & marketing experience.  She manages nine  NAIOP Southern Nevada committees who meet monthly to strategically plan monthly, quarterly and annual events & sponsorships.  Outside the office, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and daughter and grandbaby.

Karen Englert,
Support Staff

As part-time support staff for all clients and personnel, every day brings diverse responsibilities to Karen's desk.She is the go-to person for writing,  editing and graphic design. Her degree is in Public Relations and Journalism and she has also studied Graphic Arts. Karen is a free-lance writer who previously worked as Senior Writer and Editor for Central Christian Church and for various publications as Account Executive and Public Relations Manager.
